A week with Nana
Nana (my maternal grandma) was here all week. The girls and I stayed over at my parents’ place for most of the week so we could spend as much time as possible with Nana. Colleen still is pretty reticent to play with anyone else when I am around, so she really only warmed up to Nana when I wasn’t around. Bea cried a lot the first few days, until Nana found a swing in the nursery at church, put her in it, and it was like magic…Bea calmed down and even slept in it for her. So, we are borrowing a swing from some friends to see if we can get this to work at home!
We started our batch of Christmas cookies and Nana was wonderful and made us breakfast every day and cleaned up the kitchen. We’re now spoiled and I’ll have to pick up the slack on days that the girls and I are at my parents’ (most Tuesdays and Fridays.)
This week, Colleen also discovered how fun it can be to create a fort out of tables and blankets. And she and I took a trip downtown on the train so she could see where Mommy and Daddy’s bank is. She likes to pretend to go to the bank to deposit her money. We give her coins at home for her to save. At Sunday School, they also have the kids give an offering each week, so she is learning about both donating money and saving money. I’m sure soon enough, we’ll have to deal with the spending money aspect as well…
