Baby Dops being stubborn

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

Had my 38 week OB appt this morning…thankfully the head is still down, but it hasn’t engaged yet…which means it could still turn back. Ugh! Just engage already!

I’m also still only 1cm dilated and not at all effaced in spite of having on/off contractions every couple of hours for the last 3 days.

It looks this baby has decided to not cooperate until it is forced to when I am induced on Sunday night. My OB told him/her to not be so stubborn and to engage and go into labor already!

Baby Dops Week 37

Friday, August 28th, 2009

Well this is actually the end of week 37. Wednesday, we went in at 7am to have an external version (turn the baby manually–I hear it is painful and not necessarily successful, but we felt we had to give it a try) and, thank goodness, the baby had turned head down on his/her own.

Today, had an OB appointment. Baby still head down. Decision was made to induce me at 39 weeks, if I haven’t had the baby by then. So, we will check into the hospital on Sunday, September 6th and should have a little boy or girl sometime on September 7th.

So we need thoughts and prayers that the baby remains head down (he/she could still turn back transverse)!

Baby Dops Week 35/36

Thursday, August 13th, 2009

As I posted on my Facebook status last week, we had an ultrasound at 34/35 weeks and it shows that the baby is transverse. The OB specialist said there is still enough amniotic fluid for the baby to turn and we won’t worry until 37 weeks. But, if the baby doesn’t turn, it will most likely lead to a C-section. So, we are keeping our fingers crossed and talking a lot of encouragement to Baby Dops to turn head down!

Baby Dops was 5 lbs 5oz according to the ultrasound. That is already bigger than Colleen was when she was born.

Baby Dops update: Week 31

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

This has been a week of major kicking. After being fairly subdued compared to when Colleen was in the womb, Baby Dops has made up for it this week. I have endured an increase in the amount and intensity of kicks, especially right up into my ribs. It has become very difficult to get comfortable enough to sleep. I remember Colleen kicking a lot, but I don’t remember it being quite as uncomfortable (or sometimes painful) as this has been.

We also finally realized this week how laid back we have been about preparing for this arrival. So, now we’ve got to start making sure we have our ducks in a row for who is going to watch Colleen and who is going to walk Jack, etc., etc. At least I’ve gone through all our baby stuff at my parents’ place and packed up the clothes by size, as well as the bottles, and bedding, and toys, and burp cloths…Now I just need to get the covers on the infant car seat and bouncy chairs washed.
