Mommy’s new sanity-keeper: The PlayZone

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

It takes up our whole living room, but it keeps Bea corralled and fairly happy. She likes the new booster seat, too. Maybe we can get rid of the big high chair and just use the booster.

More Fun and Run

The guitar player is the woman Anya helped in the Parker 4-year old day camp class in 1992! We only got to 2 characters, but it wore us out!

Go, Anya! Anya starts to cook

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010

For those of you who know me, you know I really never much cared for cooking. That’s why I married Tom! :-) He has been the cook in our family for almost 10 years now. Well, last week I finally decided it was time for me to start cooking dinner. It gives Tom more time with the girls when he gets home from work.

I’ve made a beef/vegetable stir fry; pulled pork (from the store) and corn on the cob; salmon with steamed spinach and couscous; my grandma’s hot chicken casserole; and black bean chilaquiles.

I would say the black bean chilaquiles was the biggest hit so far. Of course, Colleen will eat anything that has vegetables in it! I’m starting to feel a little more comfortable.

I think it will also be easier when Colleen starts going to “preschool” in the fall three days a week, so I don’t feel like I’m taking time away from her and Bea when I’m planning dinner and then she can help me make it when she gets home. I can do the planning/prep while Bea takes her nap and Colleen is at preschool.

Play date at the Lincoln Park Conservatory

Sunday, August 8th, 2010

Today we met Alex, Olivia, Luca, and Isabella for a play date at the Conservatory. Unfortunately, it rained. But, we still had fun inside, too.

Some pictures

Sunday, August 8th, 2010

Colleen was happy to be in her red wagon and Bea was trying out shoes for the first time. Colleen also was enjoying the sour cream in her quesadilla! And both Bea and Colleen wearing a “crown”.

More beach time (August 6)

Saturday, August 7th, 2010

Bea had her first taste of sand and found she didn’t really like it, but that didn’t stop her from then also trying the wet sand by the water to see if it was any different.

Colleen built a sandcastle and buried our feet.

Daddy’s work picnic (July 16)

Monday, July 19th, 2010

We had a good time at Daddy’s work picnic. We played bean bag toss and had popsicles. Colleen got a pink butterfly on her arm.

Outside before it gets too hot

Saw our friend, Cyndi, after 2 years! It was great to catch up with her.

Botanic Gardens (July 10)

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

We took a family trip out to the Botanic Gardens. It was hot! Colleen liked the model railroad garden and the fountain. We also saw bee houses (so, of course, we took a pic of Bea in front of them.)
