Nana Mary’s visit (Aug 26-Aug 30)
Thursday, September 11th, 2008I’m going to try to remember what we did now that it is over 2 weeks later!
Tuesday Aug 26: Colleen’s 13 month birthday! Nana came over to our place and we showed her our favorite swings and played in the sand. Then it was off to lunch at Heartland Cafe and to test out Colleen’s new big girl car seat (she still is a little unsure about facing forward)! Colleen played well with Nana while I was at my doctor’s appointment, but she still doesn’t really want Nana to pick her up. For excitement, Tom locked himself out of our place on the back “porch” with Jack without his leash (he was cutting Jack’s nails) so we had to go let him in.
Wednesday, Aug 27: Colleen and I took the el to my parents’ place to spend another fun day with Nana! Colleen still is very hesitant about Nana and won’t let me go far.
Thursday, Aug 28: Nana and Grandma watched Colleen while I went downtown to identify Colleen and Tom in a photo with the mayor. They took it a few weeks ago at a fire station. The mayor will sign it for us. Tom looks fine, but unfortunately Colleen isn’t looking at the camera. Oh well. Then it was more play time with Nana and practice walking.
Friday, Aug 29: This was a great day. Nana, my parents, Colleen and I went down to Millenium Park and Colleen played in the fountain! She LOVED it! She thought the faces were funny especially when the water came out of their mouths. She did not want to leave, but fall asleep as soon as we put her back in the stroller. Luckily we had a change of clothes because she was soaking wet. Unfortunately, my dad and I didn’t and we had to wait to dry out.
Saturday Aug 30: My aunt/uncle and cousin, Chris, and his girlfriend came to spend the day and pick up Nana to take her home. Colleen and I took the el down to my parents’ place again and Colleen did very well–she didn’t cry when my Aunt Nancy laughed! (She has quite a loud laugh!) We watched some old home movies of my cousin Adam and I when he was first born (I’m about 16 months older) which were hilarious and also showed that Colleen looks and acts a lot like me. I didn’t realize it until I saw these movies! Then we all went to Leona’s for dinner. Unfortunately, Colleen had a 102 degree fever which lasted 3 days and made for not a very fun time for the next few days.
