Saw our friend, Cyndi, after 2 years! It was great to catch up with her.

Helping friends move…

We had to say goodbye to ‘Uncle’ Phil and ‘Uncle’ Jon and their fishes. They are moving to New Hampshire. We’ll miss our Tuesday dinners with them.

Short snippets of the last month

Tuesday, October 7th, 2008

Tom’s work picnic (Friday, Sept 12): It was a rainy, dreary day, but Colleen had a great time walking around and meeting a 9-week old.  She loves babies.

Museum with Dad (Saturday, Sept 13): To give mom a few hours to clean, Tom and Colleen went to see the model trains at Museum of Science and Industry.

Shopping for shoes (Monday, Sept 15): Colleen survived an afternoon of shoe shopping with her Grandma Colly and me.  We both needed new walking shoes.  Of course, Colleen wanted to pull on the laces and try them on herself!  It seems that she loves shoes.  I don’t know where she gets it from because I could care less about shoes.

Black eye (Tuesday, Sept 16):  Today was her first official black eye.  She got it at play group.  I was ogling a newborn and she tried to get off of a rocker toy she was on by herself.  We all heard her hit the floor and she cried for awhile.  I didn’t notice until a few minutes later that she had a nice shiner under her right eye.

Dinner with Beesons (Tuesday, Sept 16):  Colleen and I had a wonderful dinner at our favorite restaurant, Sapori Trattoria, with some friends from church who have a 2-month old.  Tom had to work late, so he missed it.  Smith, the baby, was great and Colleen did very well until dinner came.  By that time, she was ready to move around and wouldn’t stay in her high chair.  Ah well, at least she didn’t cry.

What else did we do…

We visited Grandma Carol to help her pack and instead spent the time playing with the cool toys she had–legos and a plane you could pull around.  Colleen even stayed with her while Tom and I went upstairs for a few minutes to see if there was anything we could pack!

We had dinner at my parents with their friend/our friend, Mary Enda.  She brought cool books for Colleen from her and Phyllis.  They all had touch and feel components to them which Colleen LOVES!  She especially likes that two of the books have squeaking noises and one of them has a border collie dog in it that looks very much like one of our dogs.

We visited Grandpa Joe and Grandma Judy and had yummy Chinese for dinner (Colleen loves fried rice).  Colleen got a cute outfit for fall.  She had a small meltdown when we first got there, but warmed up.  Unfortunately, not enough for Grandma and Grandpa to hold her though.

We went to brunch at church on October 5th and Colleen actually wandered around the room and even tried to take food off people’s plates! :-)  She was being very bold that day!  We then had dinner with our friends Phil/Jon and Phil’s parents and Barry/Chris and some other friends of Phil/Jon’s that night.  Colleen did fairly well for about an hour and then Tom took her home since it was getting near her bedtime.  I stayed for another hour and enjoyed a glass of wine.

On October 4th, Tom helped his mom move and so Colleen and I went to have lunch with my brother and do some toy shopping at Timeless Toys which is an awesome toy store.  Colleen choose some foam blocks, a pig stuffed animal, and a Touch and Feel book of baby animals.  We had a great time and Colleen now sleeps with the pig.  It is adorable how much she kisses and hugs it.  She doesn’t really play with the blocks yet, but she loves to walk around the house back and forth dragging the bag of blocks with her.  It’s pretty funny.

Yesterday, October 6th was my dad’s 65th birthday!  Happy Birthday, Dad!

Today, October 7th is my 35th birthday.  So, I guess, happy birthday to me!  To celebrate, I made Colleen and I eggs for breakfast and then we cooked some brownies.

I’m sure I’ve missed quite a bit.  It’s been really hard to keep up without having my Thursdays.
