Mommy shouldn’t laugh

Yesterday was not a good nap time. We were at my parents’ new place and Colleen just couldn’t seem to settle down to sleep. I was starting to get pretty upset about it because it was keeping Bea awake as well. I finally said to her, in a very stern voice, “Colleen turn over and go to sleep!” So, she turned over and promptly started to make loud, exaggerated snoring sounds. I tried so hard to keep my composure. I looked over at Tom who was trying to nap in the other bed and his eyes were closed, but he had a smile on his face. That was it…I burst out laughing. I just couldn’t help myself. Of course, that just made it all worse and we ended up with Colleen sobbing her heart out when I then left the room so I could get Bea to sleep.

A day for Mommy…

Tom took Colleen to her Kindermusik class this morning and then out to see his mom.  They’ve now been gone 9 hours and I miss them!!  I was supposed to get alot of cleaning done and then cross off a bunch of stuff on my TO DO list.  Well…I did get the condo dusted, vacuumed and mopped; did the dishes; did most of the laundry; took out the trash; emptied the paper shredder; walked the dogs; tidied up most of the condo (well alot of the items just got stuffed in the front closet to be dealt with later); organized my clothes drawers, organized Colleen’s clothes drawers; transferred my hanging clothes to Colleen’s closet and Tom’s to the closet in our bedroom; worked a little on our budget; went through some old magazines I had been meaning to read; uploaded Colleen photos to our website and added captions…

OK, so I did get some stuff done, but my TO DO list looks like nothing has been crossed off of it!  I really need about 4 more days…But, of course, I would miss Tom and Colleen too much!

Babies don’t keep…

I have renewed my pledge today to spend more quality time with my daughter instead of always telling her “just a minute” or trying to check my email while she obviously wants me to read her a book or play with her Oscar the Grouch puppet.  If the house doesn’t get clean or my friends don’t hear from me for a few weeks that is OK because my daughter is growing up so fast and this time of having her close will be over much too soon.
