How can summer almost be over?
Thursday, August 14th, 2008This week, I had the eye-opening realization that summer was almost over. In just a few weeks, the beaches will be closed again and while we can still play in the sand and swing on the swings, it will be different. I know that we’ve been out more this summer than we would have if we didn’t move to live near the lake and playgrounds, but I still feel like I let it pass us by without doing enough fun, outdoor things for Colleen (and for all of us.) I know we have many more years ahead of us to enjoy the beach and the parks and go to the zoo and the museums, but sometimes I get too caught up in needing to do everything right NOW! It’s a bad mental/emotional habit of mine. Maybe I need to find a good yoga class for the fall…
Speaking of the fall, I did sign up to take a low-impact aerobics class twice a week at our local field house, so Tom and Colleen will have some more father/daughter time and I can finally start to get back in shape. I’ve also signed us up for Kindermusik again to continue helping Colleen with socialization. I’m even looking into the YMCA for some more active classes that Colleen and I can do together. The only problem with that is we don’t have any Y’s near us, so it would take an effort, but I’m going to have to find incentives to get Colleen and I out of the house and staying active as we head into late fall and winter. Any other ideas on what to do with a soon-to-be 13 month old?
